Persimmon Hollow Joins Forces with Brown Distributing

Persimmon Hollow Brewing Company is in the midst of opening their brewery in DeLand, Florida. Founders, Andy Sistrunk and Robbie Carelli are home brewers who decided to make the jump and pursue their dream of opening a microbrewery to become DeLand’s first and only craft brewery.

Slated to open August 2014, Persimmon Hollow will begin with a 15 bbl American Beer Equipment made brewhouse pushing out an estimated 2,000 bbls of beer in the first year. They will also utilize a one-barrel test system for recipe creation and one-off beers. Their focus is creating Belgian and American-style ales and will offer 5 year-round products: Dee-land White Boy Belgian Wit, Daytona Dirty Blonde American Blonde Ale, Beach Hippie IPA, Sunburnt Tourist American Red Ale and Funky Freddy Fitz Belgian Stout.  They will also release regular seasonal and limited releases. First distributing their beers in keg they hope to start to canning by the end of their second year.

“Our passion is to create great beer. It all starts there. We use as many locally sourced ingredients as we can and are passionate about making great local beer. We want to put craft beer on a shelf where everyone can reach it, whether they are new to craft beer or a long time craft drinker." says Andy Sistrunk.

Their local focus is deeply rooted in area. The brewery name stems from the original name of the DeLand before it became a city in 1876. Wild persimmons, a native edible fruit, formerly grew in the region abundantly. With their passion for craft beer and enthusiasm for the area, Persimmon Hollow has their sights on bringing DeLand into the craft beer spotlight with their Florida-inspired beers.

Persimmon Hollow Brewing’s 85-year old building has a revitalized industrial feel with original pine rafters, exposed brick and will house a 2,300 sq ft. tasting room. Offering a comfortable atmosphere with growler fills, it will feature 8-10 of their beers on tap plus several guest taps for local and regional beers. Located in Artisan Alley, their brewery will serve as a meeting place among local art shows, Friday art-walks and weekly farmers markets. They will even brew a monthly “Art In the Glass” one-off small batch beer to highlight during each 4th Friday Art-walk.

While looking to make a decision on their distributor, Persimmon Hollow looked for a distributor who shared this belief in local. Robbie Carelli explains, “Brown's passion for Florida Craft Beer is unmatched by any other distributor that we have met. Their work with Drink Like A Local and the recommendations of a number of established Florida Breweries sealed the decision for us.”

We at Brown Distributing are thrilled to partner with such a genuine group of guys who are so focused on creating quality, local beers in Central Florida. They will make an amazing addition to our family of Florida breweries and we look forward to working with them to introduce their brands to their area.
